Four people were killed and one injured in a head-on collision between a private car and a truck in Jessore on Sunday (June 27).
The dead were all in private cars. Three of them died on the spot and another died at Jessore General Hospital. The deceased were identified as Rafsan Chowdhury Sadnam, Naeem, Nayan and Johnny.
The injured person’s name is Shahabuddin. Shahabuddin said their home was in the Bayazid police station area of Chittagong. The deceased was identified as Sadnam, a former joint convener of Chittagong Metropolitan Chhatra Dal.
Inspector Rokibuzzaman, in-charge of Chanchra police outpost in Jessore, told locals that a private car (Dhaka Motor-G-15-7054) heading towards Benapole collided head-on with a truck. The truck quickly fled. Three were killed and at least two were injured.
They were rescued and taken to Jessore General Hospital. Another died while undergoing treatment there. The deadly truck driver and helper are on the run.
Meanwhile, Jessore district Chhatra Dal president Rajinur Rahman Sagar said Rafsan Chowdhury Sadnam, a former joint convener of Chittagong Metropolitan Chhatra Dal, was killed on the spot. He was driving the car.
Asaduzzaman, inspector of Navaran Highway Police Station on Jessore-Benapole Road, said the bodies of the three people killed at the spot have been taken to Highway Police Station. Attempts are being made to contact the relatives.
