A housewife named Shabana Khatun (41) committed suicide by wrapping a scarf around her neck as she could not bear the stomach ache in Abhaynagar of Jessore. The incident took place at his home in Amdanga village of the upazila on Saturday (May 7) morning.
Shabana Khatun is the wife of Abdul Ghaffar, an autorice mill worker from Amdanga village.
According to family sources, Shabana Khatun has been suffering from stomach ache and diabetes for a long time. At 10 am on Saturday, when his stomach ached so much, he went to his room and closed the door. After the door was closed for about an hour, the door of the house was broken when no sound was heard from Shabana.
At that time, Shabana’s body was found hanging in the room with a veil wrapped around her neck. He was rushed to the Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
“I woke up in the morning and went to work,” said Abdul Ghaffar, the victim’s husband. At 10:30 am, the family members called and informed about the death. My wife has been suffering from stomach tumors for a long time. He could not be operated on due to severe diabetes. Police took the body from the hospital.
Abhaynagar police sub-inspector Nasir Uddin said the body of a housewife named Shabana Khatun was found hanging from her neck. It will be possible to say after the autopsy whether it is suicide or not. The body has been sent to Jessore General Hospital Morgue. An unnatural death case has been registered in this incident.
