Aminur Rahman, Jessore Correspondent:
The only government secondary school in Abhaynagar, Jessore is called Nawapara Shankarpasha Secondary School, which has been made official by Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina since 23 August 2016.
This school is completed as a government school. But the dilapidated building did not prosper. The school has not been allotted any new building for almost 4 years.
The school was established in 1926 by the enthusiastic people of the area. The paved two-storey building of the school, which was built in the heart of Nawapara, is on the verge of collapsing. The school building has reached old age.
During the monsoon season, the students are in a state of panic and panic when a pile of limestone falls on their heads and kills them. There is no need to worry about the teachers. The main two-storey main building of Nawapara Shankarpasha Government Secondary School is in dilapidated condition.
It can collapse at any time and cause death. Students and teachers may be affected. Lime is falling from the roof like moya murki, brick cobble, fraction of rod is also falling. As soon as it rains continuously, rain water falls on the roof and the classroom gets wet.
The teachers have been questioned by the parents as there have been several accidents. The headmaster has informed the higher authorities in writing and orally several times. Headmaster Md. Shahidul Islam said, I have brought the matter to the notice of the authorities.
The old main building needs to be demolished by declaring it abandoned. Apart from that, it is better to get a multi-storied new building to carry out academic work including conducting class activities.
In addition to removing dilapidation, risk-free campuses demand the lives of the locals. The school has been used as PEC, JSC, SSC (General), SSC (Voc) and Baubi’s SSC examination centers. National and social events are conducted in this school. In the national and local interest, it is very necessary to demolish the dilapidated building of this school and construct a new concrete building.
