The island nation of Sri Lanka has set a new record for the most number of matches lost in one-day international cricket.
Sri Lanka lost by a huge margin of 7 wickets in the second ODI of the series against host England at the Oval in London yesterday. However, after losing the match, Sri Lanka led by Kushal Perera entered the new shame record.
At present, Sri Lanka have lost 428 ODIs. Which is collectively the highest among the countries playing one-day international matches in the world. Earlier, Sri Lanka touched the record of losing 428 matches in the first place yesterday. If they lose the third ODI of the series, they will overtake India.
India’s arch-rivals Pakistan are second in the record for most ODI matches lost to Sri Lanka. So far they have lost 414 ODIs. On the other hand, Bangladesh is in the 7th position in the record of losing the most ODI matches after losing 245 ODIs.
