Army Chief General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed inspected humanitarian aid and patrol activities in Khulna on Tuesday (July 13th) morning. This information was given by the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate on Monday. This is the first visit of newly appointed Army Chief General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed to Khulna region since he took charge on June 24.
According to sources, the army chief provided humanitarian assistance to the helpless and needy people at the Khulna District Stadium at 9:30 am on Tuesday. At 9.50 am, he inspected the patrol activities of the army at Shivbari intersection. Later at 10 am he is exchanging views with the local administration at the circuit house.
Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md. Ismail Hossain, Khulna Deputy Commissioner Md. Moniruzzaman Talukder, Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md. Masudur Rahman Bhuiyan and other military and civilian officers are with the army chief.
Incidentally, the army is assisting the civilian administration under the direction of the army chief to implement government directives in the wake of the Corona epidemic. Following this, the army is conducting regular patrols in important areas as part of ‘Operation Cove Shield Phase-2’.
The main purpose of this patrol is to raise awareness among the people of all walks of life during the Corona epidemic.
Besides, various programs including food, emergency medical services and clean water supply are being taken among the poor people by raising funds from the army’s own funds.
