Aminur Rahman, Jessore:
A teacher of Kota Hafezia and women’s section of Mahila Madrasa of Chalisia Union in Abhaynagar of Jessore has been accused of indecency. The locals have demanded justice for such a heinous incident. The incident took place at 8:30 am on Tuesday in the residential room of the madrasa.
Professor Nuruzzaman, general secretary of the madrasa management committee, confirmed the incident. Asked about the incident, the victim said, “I was in my room allotted to the residents of the madrasa in the morning.
The president of the madrasa, Sabur Sheikh, entered my house and wanted to know where my husband was.” When I said I was not at home, he put his hand on my body and pulled me by the hand.
At one point I shouted and when the locals gathered he quickly left the place. When the incident came to light, the madrasa authorities and the conscious community of the area held an arbitration meeting at the madrasa on Wednesday afternoon.
Parents of Madrasa students and locals gathered to demand justice for such activities. Later, after the Maghrib prayers, the angry mob went to Sabur Sheikh’s house and chased him. The madrasa secretary took refuge in Nuruzzaman’s house.
When the secretary of Gazipur outpost IC Suklyan assured a fair trial, the locals calmed down. In this regard, UP member of Ward 5 Maruf Hossain Tuhin said, if the incident is not brought to justice, such incidents will happen again.
Several people, who did not want to be named, said that there have been multiple such allegations against Sabur before.
Abhaynagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge KM Shamim Hasan said that the locals tried to arrest him and carry out a massacre. Legal action will be taken against the aggrieved teacher if she complains. However, the case was being prepared till the report was written.
