Police have arrested ex-husband Liton Molla, 38, in connection with the murder of Parveen Sultana, 35, of Khumna Dumuria.
Parveen’s ex-husband Liton, who was the fugitive killer after the incident, was arrested from Dumuria Police Station Zero Point area on Tuesday night, police said. He was arraigned in court on Wednesday (June 18).
Officer-in-charge of Dumuria Police Station Md Obaidur Rahman said Nurjahan, the eldest daughter of the deceased Parveen, had filed a murder case with Dumuria Police Station in this regard.
According to police and local sources, Parveen Begum, daughter of Mannan Sheikh of Bahadurpur village in Kharnia, got married to Liton Mollah, son of late Kinu Mollah of Dumuria Bazar area about three years ago. They got divorced about a month ago.
Liton Molla started marrying the woman again. But as Parveen Begum did not agree, Liton Mollah broke down the door of a rented house next to Dumuria Shaheed Smriti Mahila College late last night.
Later, he took the woman out in front of the house, stabbed her in the abdomen with a knife and hit her on the head with a rod. Upon receiving the news, the police rescued the seriously injured woman on the same night and she died on the way to Khulna Medical College Hospital.
