Akash Das Sports Correspondent:
India have set a record for the lowest runs in a full 20 overs among ICC full member nations, leaving Bangladesh behind in the International Twenty20.
In the third and final match of the three-match T20 series against Sri Lanka yesterday, he batted first with 4 debutants and 5 batsmen against the hosts and played the entire 20 overs of the innings but managed to score only 81 runs for the loss of 8 wickets.
This is the second lowest run-scoring record in T20 cricket. Earlier, Bangladesh, which was in the second position in the list, lost 9 wickets against Pakistan in 2011 and scored only 85 runs. The surrender of the Indian batsmen in front of the Sri Lankan bowlers yesterday has left behind that shameful record of Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, Lara-Sobers’ West Indies hold the record for the fewest runs in a full 20 overs in international Twenty20 cricket. In 2010, the Windies lost 7 wickets against Zimbabwe and were stuck at 69 runs.
