Belabo (Narsingdi) Correspondent:
Khalilur Rahman, the central leader of Bangladesh Krishak Samhati, wants to ensure the implementation of voting in the Belabo Sadar Union of Belabo Upazila of Narsingdi without depriving the people of the right to vote in the name of elections. He made the remarks while announcing his candidature for the post of chairman of Belabo Sadar UP at an exchange of views on the upcoming local government elections after visiting his father’s grave on Saturday night.
Talking about the last UP election, he added that in the last election, 97% of the votes were cast in Center No. 3, including the votes of the deceased and expatriates. Out of 6264 votes cast in three centers of Upazila Awami League president and general secretary, Nauka got only 74 votes. Where the government gets only 7 votes in the center of the party president and general secretary. Getting this vote with the party symbol of the candidate of the ruling party is not only ridiculous but also a rare event in the history of elections. He called upon the people to be vigilant with the intervention of local MPs and administration so that such a farce and rash election like the last one in Belabo UP does not happen again.
Siraj Military, Anwar Hossain,Sudhan Chandra Sotradhor Usman Gani, Badal Mia, Siraj Mia and labor leader Alauddin and many others spoke at the meeting chaired by former member of Sadar Union A. Barik and conducted by Chayedur Rahman.
Speaking on the forthcoming UP elections, A. Barik, chairman of the meeting, said, “Khalilur Rahman is the most deserving candidate among all the possible candidates for the post of chairman of Belabo Union. As a witness to the people present, I would like to say that if the election is not a farce like the last one, and if the general public can go to the polls and cast their votes, then I believe Khalilur Rahman will win by a wide margin, regardless of party affiliation .
