Police have recovered the mutilated body of a land office assistant named Chanchal Hossain (34) from an unprotected rail crossing at Abhaynagar in Jessore. His body was recovered from Baliadanga Rail Crossing in Chengutia area of the upazila on Tuesday (March 30) morning.
The deceased was identified as Chanchal Hossain, son of Atiyar Mollah of Hamidpur village under Jessore Sadar upazila. He was working as an office assistant in Sharsha Upazila Land Office.
Witnesses said a motorcycle (Jessore-H-18-273) collided with a Jessore-bound intercity train while crossing the Baliadanga rail crossing at around 9.30 am. At that time, the motorcycle got stuck in the engine of the train and fell on the side of the railway line about 200 yards away. When the train left, the mutilated body of the motorcyclist and the driver’s body were found on the side of the railway line. The fire service later arrived at the scene.
Khan Ehsan Ul Alam, station officer of Nawapara Fire Service, said the mutilated body of a man and a twisted motorcycle were recovered from the Baliadanga rail crossing. It was handed over to Jessore GRP police at noon.
GRP police SI Tariqul Islam said a man named Chanchal Hossain was killed on the spot when a Dhaka-bound Chitra Express train left Khulna at Baliadanga Rail Crossing on Tuesday morning. The deceased was identified as Atiyar Mollah of Hamidpur village in Jessore Sadar upazila. He was working as an office assistant in Sharsha Upazila Land Office. The body was recovered and sent to Jessore morgue. The case is under process.
Nawapara Railway Station Master. Mohsin Reza said the accident took place while crossing the rail crossing on a motorcycle. The Baliadanga railway crossing is completely unprotected. Parper must be at his own risk. GRP police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue.
