The theft took place at the official quarters of Fulbari Upazila Health and Health Officer and Resident Medical Officer in Kurigram. Police identified the four people, including the ambulance driver, at the hospital after seeing CCTV footage of the incident and arrested them. Later on Thursday afternoon, the four were sent to jail.
It is learned that UHFPO Dr Shamsunnahar and RMO Dr Fazilatunnesa Barna locked the door of the quarters at 11 am on Wednesday.
At 2 pm, Dr. Fazilatunnesa returned to the barna quarters and saw that the two doors had been locked, things were random and there was no cash of Rs 20,000 in his drawer drawer. Upon receiving the news, Dr. Shamsunnahar also went to the quarters and saw that the thieves had broken the lock of the gold ornaments worth about 1 lakh rupees and about 7 lakh rupees used in the drawer of his house.
He later reported the theft to police. Police came and arrested 4 people on Wednesday night after seeing CCTV footage of the hospital. The detainees were identified as Ekabbar Ali, 48, an ambulance driver of the hospital, Shah Alam, 52, son of Shariat Ullah of Chandrakhana Hospital, a volunteer of the hospital and Pradeep Chandra Das, 26, son of late Gopal Chandra Das of Jummapara village. Fulbari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rajib Kumar Roy said those involved in the theft at the Upazila Health Complex have been arrested and sent to jail. Attempts are being made to recover the goods.
