As the prevalence of coronavirus has increased, a mobile court has conducted a raid in Abhaynagar, Jessore. Two passenger buses were confiscated and another was fined for distributing masks among the people to raise awareness against the virus.
The operation was carried out on the Jessore-Khulna highway in front of the Upazila Land Office on Wednesday (March 31) afternoon.
Mobile court sources said the executive magistrate and upazila executive officer on Wednesday afternoon. Under the leadership of Aminur Rahman, free masks were distributed among the general public.
Later, the Jessore-bound (Dhaka Motra-B-14-3482) and (Dhaka Metro-J-11-0546) passenger buses carrying more passengers and lack of necessary documents were confiscated. The seized bus was later handed over to Nawapara Highway Police. Besides, a fine of Tk 5,000 was levied under section 7 of the Road Transport Act for carrying extra passengers on another Jessore-bound bus (Sylhet-J-04-0190).
Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Narayan Chandra Pal, Land Office Officer Mahamudar Rahman, Highway Police and members of Ansar Bahini were present during the operation.
