Brazil and Spain, the two strongest teams in world football, hold the record for most unbeaten matches in international football. But will Italy, who are currently at the peak of their form, be able to share their record this time?
Russia had to be dropped from the 2018 World Cup due to poor performance. Since then, Italy has always been at the peak of its form. That’s why the four-time world champions beat Austria 2-1 in the last 16 of the Euro yesterday to secure the quarter-finals of Euro 2021 and set a record of 31 unbeaten matches in a row. No team in world football has been able to beat Italy since 2016.
On the other hand, five-time world champion Brazil has a record of 35 consecutive unbeaten matches from 1993-1996. Brazil has a record of 35 unbeaten matches. Another football superpower, Spain, held Spain unbeaten for 35 consecutive matches from 2008-2009.
Italy, on the other hand, were unbeaten in 31 matches, held by two-time world champions Argentina and Hungary. Argentina was unbeaten in 31 matches from 1991-1993 and Hungary was unbeaten in 31 consecutive matches from 1950-1954.
