Jessore district president Sadiqur Rahman Azad, 48, of Abhaynagar Upazila Health Complex’s head office assistant and Safe Roads Chai Andolan, did not return home. He had been suffering from kidney disease for a long time.
He died at Khulna City Medical College Hospital at 4 am on Wednesday night (Inna – Lillahi wa Inna Ilahi Raziun). He is survived by his wife and one daughter, as well as numerous admirers and relatives. After the Asr prayers, the janaza was held at the Alipore graveyard ground in his own village.
After the janaza prayers, his burial was completed at Alipore cemetery. Senior officials of the health department as well as doctors and employees of Abhaynagar Upazila Health Complex were present at the janaza prayers. Besides, district and police station leaders of the movement for safe roads were present.
Also present were leaders of medical, political, social and cultural circles.
