Allama Mamunul Haque’s supporters attacked three places including the official residence of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) at Kuliarchar in Kishoreganj.

Several people, including police and journalists, were injured in the chase by the police and the attackers. The incident took place at around 10pm on Saturday (April 3) at Kuliarchar Upazila.

It is learned that Allama Mamunul Haque, the top leader of Hifazat-e-Islam, was arrested along with a woman at the Royal Resort in Sonargaon. Police fired several rounds of blank shots to bring the situation under control. Several people, including police and journalists, were injured in the incident.

In this regard, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kuliyarchar Police Station AKM Sultan Mahmud told reporters that a procession came in front of the police station centered on the arrest of Mamunul Haque at a hotel in Sonargaon and threw brickbats at the police. During this time they carried out destructive activities in different places. However, there were no students of any madrasa or people of Hifazat-e-Islam in the procession.

After watching the video, 33 people were identified as accused and 5 of them were arrested and sent to court in Kishoreganj.
