Jewel (30) and Nadeem(35) were beaten to death on suspicion of robbery at Belabo in Narsingdi. At that time, the CNG fire with them was burnt in the jail and dumped in the adjacent paddy field.
The incident took place at the last part of a village called Darikandi on the road connecting Belabo and Raipura police stations on Tuesday evening.
It is learned that both the deceased are residents of Lochanpur village of Uttar Bakharnagar union under Raipura police station. The deceased was identified as Jewel, son of Ataur of Lochanpur village. None of his specific occupations were known. However, the victim’s brother-in-law Swapan said that he was preparing to go abroad. However, police sources said that there are several cases in his name.
On the other hand, the deceased Nadeem is the son of Shahidullah of the same village. He is a CNG driver by profession. Police sources said that there is no record of any previous complaint in his name.
According to the family, they went to the shrine of Fateh Ali Shah (Pirpur) under Raipura police station this afternoon. The incident took place on the way from there.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Saheb Ali Pathan of the District Superintendent of Police visited the spot. He said he had visited the spot and collected evidence of the dead. He said that after investigation, accurate information of the incident can be given. Officer-in-charge of Belabo Police Station Safayet Hossain Palash was present at the time.
