Opposition people have been accused of forcibly taking fish from a pond in Tahirpur upazila of Sunamganj. The victim has lodged a written complaint with Tahirpur police station seeking redressal of the incident.
Babul Mia, 45, son of late Shafi Uddin of Lakma Natun Para village in Sreepur North Union No. 1 of Tahirpur Upazila, lodged a written complaint with Tahirpur Police Station on Sunday (June 8).
According to the complaint, Babul Mia (45) of Lakma Natun Para village of the upazila had been fishing in a pond owned by Torab Ali six months ago. Borhan Uddin, 35, son of Shahid Miah of Binnarband village of the upazila, AH Mannan, 35, son of late Abdur Rashid, Yaqub Ali, 30, son of Habibur Rahman and Ahad Ali, son of Ali Akbar were killed on Thursday (June 3).
Abul Kalam, 45, son of Abdur Razzak, Abu Taher, 40, son of Ahad Ali, and Iqbal Hossain, 25, son of Habibur Rahman. He left the net in the pond and took away the fish worth 2 lakh rupees.
When Babul Mia (45) stopped him while taking the fish, the opponents threatened Babul Mia with their weapons. He later lodged a written complaint with Tahirpur police station seeking redressal.
Asked about this to the accused Borhan Uddin, he denied the matter and said, “Those who have gone to their place, they can do it if they complain to one person. I have gone as a judge.” I came a week ago to find out how much space there is.
When asked about this, the accused A. Mannan denied taking the fish and said, “This is my place. They have fenced my place with a few bamboo-rooms. They were releasing a few fry, which I told them to pick up their fish.
Tahirpur police officer in charge (OC) said. Abdul Latif Tarafdar said, “I have received the complaint and necessary action will be taken subject to investigation.”
