KAMPALA—Mukono Municipality Member of Parliament Betty Nambooze has been summoned to appear before Criminal Investigations Directorate headquarters in Kibuli to explain her statement on the assassination of former colleague Ibrahim Abiriga.
Nambooze is summoned on the basis of a video in which she explains how easy it is to attack Abiriga even with his bodyguards all around him
Vicente Sekate, the spokesperson for CID, confirmed the summons saying Nambooze is being investigated for inciting violence leading to the assassination of the Arua Municipality legislator.
“It is true we have summoned her and we expect her to pear at CID headquarters in Kibuli for an interview and statement recording,” Sekate said.
Abiriga was on Friday shot dead together with his bodyguard near his home in Kawanda on the outskirts of the city.
The Arua municipality legislator, who was famous for his euphoric enchantment with the NRM party and its yellow colour, was gunned down by unknown gunmen riding on motorcycles in a style similar to the way other prominent Ugandans have died.
His last public appearance was at the presentation of the State of the Nation Address on Wednesday at International Conference Centre at Kampala Serena hotel, in his trademark yellow Kaunda suit matched with yellow shoes.
